Einen Sommer lang
Zwischen Roggenfeld und Hecken
Führt ein schmaler Gang,
Süßes, seliges Verstecken
Einen Sommer lang.

Wenn wir uns von ferne sehen
Zögert sie den Schritt,
Rupft ein Hälmchen sich im Gehen,
Nimmt ein Blättchen mit.

Hat mit Ähren sich das Mieder
Unschuldig geschmückt,
Sich den Hut verlegen nieder
In die Stirn gerückt.

Finster kommt sie langsam näher,
Färbt sich rot wie Mohn,
Doch ich bin ein feiner Späher,
Kenn die Schelmin schon.

Noch ein Blick in Weg und Weite,
Ruhig liegt die Welt,
Und es hat an ihre Seite
Mich der Sturm gesellt.

Between rye fields and hedges
Is a narrow path,
Sweet, blissful hiding
A whole summer long.

When we see us from afar
She hesitates her step
Plucking a stalk while walking,
Taking a leaflet with.

Has the bodice innocently
With cereal ears decorated,
Has the hat shyly
In her forehead pushed.

With a dark gaze, she comes slowly closer,
Her face turns red like a poppy,
But I am a very good observer,
Have realized the cunning actress.

A look along the way and in the wideness,
Quiet is the world,
And suddenly on her side
Has the storm added me.

Between rye fields and hedges
