Even I would do it from time to time if subject allows it, I do not like to add to much of sharpness or to exaggerate bokeh aretefacts and balls of confusion. First, I do not own sophisticated IA software that, supposedly, do this kinds of sharpening and detail extraction without creating other artefacts. But, more importantly, I love old glass. I search for their "soul". I would like to find their real character. If lens is soft wide open it is soft, what is a point of sharpening subject. If, like on this photo, bokeh is more painterly than I expected, and balls do not have pronounced edges and enough swirl es I expected, so be it. At that moment, the light, the distances and the gods of bokeh gave me this image. 
With all that said, I still did  quite a lot of fine tuning on this photo. Smoke from distant forest fires made all reddish, so lot of colour interventions are done.
