Eurasian Red Squirrels at the Prater (May 21st, 2025) - Vienna, Austria

            Every morning during my time in Vienna (Wien), the sun came up a little after 5am and I would walk through the Prater (or Wiener Prater) looking for squirrels and birds.  The Prater is a large public park in the 2nd District (Leopoldstadt) in Vienna.  Most mornings were overcast or rainy, but the squirrels were active!  I have never seen a Eurasian Red Squirrel (or Red Squirrel) before and was completely delighted.  I returned to see my squirrels every morning and was so happy that I was able to check this species off my wish list!  Some folks set up feeders on the edge of the park that faces the University.  The Prater is a fantastic park.  Lots of people were running or walking their dogs.  What a wonderful way to start the day - just a short walk from our hotel.  Taken on Wednesday May 21st, 2025 - I had time for a few passes through the Prater!  Happy for my squirrel adventures in Vienna!
