Travelling Memories : Twin IETs @ Powderham Bridge, Devon 2019

            While pretty much rooted to home in another lockdown I thought I'd root through my previous holiday photos and post some that haven't seen the light of day on Flickr before.

We went back to Dawlish in Devon for my 45th Birthday in 2019. I wanted to shoot the GWR HSTs in the West Country after they'd been replaced out of Paddington by the 800 IETs. Of course with the scenery being so nice on this stretch of the Devon coast I ended up shooting them as well. The weather wasn't as good as it was the first time we visited but on the good days we hired bikes and cycled up the Exe Estuary to this location, the wonderful bridge at Powderham. The bridge had replaced a dangerous level crossing down below and it was built for cyclists and pedestrians alike. The views towards Exeter are wonderful and I snapped almost one of everything from here, including this lash up of two 800/0s IETs joined together. One wonders if one would be sufficient in today's climate.
