Радиатор Cпрингc, Arizona

            While looking at Google Maps for information on locations where I photographed a few trains recently, I stumbled upon a curiosity along famed Route 66 near Kingman, Arizona.  First was the "66" icon that is, in fact, not on Route 66, but just off it.  More interesting, however, is the Russian lettering just to the right of that: Радиатор Cпрингc.  And there appears to be nothing at this location, either.  Hmm ... Having taken two-years of Russian while in Junior High (now known as Middle School) a half century ago – because, you know, the Cold War and everything, I thought perhaps knowing some Russian might come in handy if I ever got a job with the State Department (as if!) – I don't remember much, but I do remember how most of the letters in the Cyrillic alphabet are pronounced.  So I racked my brain (literally, as my memory for this wasn't as good as I thought it was) and then double-checked it with Google Translate, and ... This lettering says "Radiator Springs"!  What the...?  Is this a subtle joke from Disney?  Or just someone having fun at Google's expense?  Radiator Springs, from the Disney Studio' anthropomorphic "Cars" series, would theoretically be somewhere in Arizona or New Mexico, of course, but not here, as the hills in the background are not nearly impressive enough.  Still, I had fun finding and translating this nice little joke!
