green crowned brilliants - a photo on Flickriver

While I am back after 12 days in Costa Rica and Wow it was amazing. I ended up taking over 15000 photos of everything from Green Macaws to Green Iguanas. Its a beautiful country and I highly recommend it.

One thing I learned very quickly when shooting in the jungle is the importance of a camera that can handle high ISO and the need for flash. Shooting at 1/40sec at ISO1250 was common throughout the trip and flash allowed us to freeze the action even when shooting under these hard conditions. My view of flash before the trip was of dislike but my view has totally changed and its going make shooting a lot of subjects far easier, so I am extremely excited for spring to come.
