From the garish-HDRs dept. here's a trial version of this shot processed with Aurora HDR 2019 from Skylum (nee Macphun).

I've been running Aurora HDR trial for a week now and I really like what I get with it, compared to my previous solutions like Photomatix and Picturenaut.

The stand-out features of Aurora HDR for me are
* layers with blend modes
* luminosity masks on layers
* excellent Clarity/Structure controls

The downsides are that
a) it doesn't work very well with single shots that are under/over-exposed (it can do a very good job with DR recovery in "correctly" exposed photos), and
b) it doesn't allow selective colour edits on shadows/midtones/highlights.

Overall, though, I'm impressed enough that I utilised this timely discount from Nikon Rumors to get my license.
