Full Beaver Moon - a photo on Flickriver

Full Beaver Moon

            Sunrise clouds filled with the rosy light of dawn frame the Full Beaver Moon as it descends over the Flatiron formation and makes its way to the Continental Divide and the horizon over Boulder, Colorado. The name for this moon comes from the idea that beaver should have their stores in order for the coming cold by this time, though the unseasonably warm temperatures belie even the notion of winter this year. 

I happened to notice the moon waxing to full coincided with a blessedly unscheduled Saturday morning, and I realized I have ignored the peaceful sunrise hours for far too long. My wife has been waking up inexplicably early these days (at least for her), and the mutt is always at the ready, so the three of us ventured out to a nearby vantage to take in what sights fair Eos would offer. As it turned out, the reward for such a moderate effort was rich. Perhaps there is a life lesson buried in there somewhere...
