Twisted Silver Pine - a photo on Flickriver

            A gnarled wreckage of a pine twists around itself in the silver moonlight and wisps of night-time cloud swirl above distant Bear Peak, Boulder, CO.

This particular trail is within walking distance from my house, and on this night my wife joined me for a 5-mile stroll under the stars. We have walked past this tree numerous times and I've always struggled photographing it. The challenge on this evening was to set everything up and compose something and expose it properly as quickly as possible, due to the fact that my wife began to feel a chill in the air not long after we stopped moving. We've laughed at it many times, and it does seem to be true that men and women are likely to perceive the same temperature very differently.
