Hitler said: we must be cruel, we must be cruel with quiet mind. We must destroy in a technical and scientific way".
the survivors of the massacre tell us that the days September 29th 30th and October 1st were the most terrible, but the bloodbath continued.
At dawn 54 big fires of houses and groups of houses were counted  near and far.
Civilians gathered all together in front of the church of Casaglia thinking that nazis were searching for partisans, therefore old men and children might remain in the church.
... they (SS) broke the door down and ordered to come out and hit us laughing.
...they killed the priest with a burst, on the altar
...they leaded us to the graveyard, unhinging the gate with rifles
... they heaped us near the chapel among the gravestones and the wooden crosses; they stood at the corners down on their knees to take aim
... they fired and threw also some hand grenades; they fired down to hit children.
And so in the graveyard of Casaglia were killed 195 persons of 28 families, 50 were children.
Our mercy on them must mean that all men and women must keep vigil  so that nazifascism never rise again.
