The bitter aftertaste.... - a photo on Flickriver

            ...of war. Depicted here in the Canadian Vimy Ridge war memorial near Ieper in Belgium. Hundreds of names are visible on the wall in this image, mostly family names starting with an R, and only a tiny fraction of the 60 thousand Canadian soldiers who died in these fields during WW-1. There is no satisfaction here, but a bitter aftertaste can be felt at every corner of this huge monument. With two clicks on the photo you will come closer, as if climbing the stairs of this special place.
