Photograph me on the edge of the cliff!

            Photographing your friend silhouetted on the edge of the cliffs against the distant scenery is a perennial favourtite. The person being photographed here is standing beside the top of the Cat Nick, the only climbable gully in the high part of Salisbury Crags, just at the point where the Crags turn a corner. 

I'm pleased to be able to report that nobody was killed or even seriously injured falling off a cliff anywhere in Holyrood Park this New Year. It's usually the drink rather than incautious photography that does it. 

Taken from near the top of the Gutted Haddie at 250mm focal length on a 1.6 crop factor sensor, hand held at 1/500th sec at f9 and ISO 3200.
