Crocothémis écarlate immature ( Crocothemis erythraea )

            Le Crocothémis écarlate (Crocothemis erythraea) est un insecte de la famille des Libellulidae. Le mâle adulte possède un abdomen rouge luisant, large et plat vu de dessus. Les ailes postérieures sont munies d'une grande tache jaune à la base. La femelle a l'abdomen gris beige avec les yeux bleus. L'espèce est présente dans les eaux stagnantes et de température élevée comme les étangs, les gravières ou les bras morts. En montagne, il a été observé jusqu'à 1000 m d'altitude.

Scarlet Crocothemis (Crocothemis erythraea) is an insect of the family Libellulidae. The adult male has a shiny red abdomen, broad and flat seen from above. The hindwings have a large yellow spot at the base. The female has beige gray abdomen with blue eyes. The species is present in stagnant, high-temperature water such as ponds, gravel pits or backwaters. In the mountains, it has been observed up to 1000 m altitude.
