A Holy Wall - a photo on Flickriver

A Holy Wall

            Not much of an attractive image but there is a story behind this.
This is the boundary wall of the church of St Mary's Walton on the Hill, Liverpool. 
 The wall bares the scars from the Luftwaffe during WWII, after carrying out bombing raids over Liverpool, the docks being their prime target they would then have to fly back to Germany. Knowing they had  little fuel the pilot would lighten the load by using up all its gun ammo as they flew east across the city and as you can see several rounds ended up in the wall of the church.
