Algenblüte - Algal bloom - a photo on Flickriver

Bedingt durch den heißen Sommer kam es im Birkensee auf dem Schwanberg im Steigerwald in diesem Sommer zu einer deutlichen Erhöhung der Wassertemperatur, wodurch das Algenwachstum enorm beschleunigt wurde: eine Algenblüte ist entstanden.

Due to the hot summer this year there was a significant increase in the water temperature in the Birkensee, which accelerated the growth of algae enormously: an algal bloom has occurred.
