Houston We Have A Problem (Explore) - a photo on Flickriver

            Dear World,

Help us in Texas and especially in Houston. We received a giant snow storm and we have no idea what to do. In places it was up to two inches deep. Please sell us a few snowplows, some shovels, salt, and some good sense. We are cold, hungry, have no heat or water. 

Seriously, people around here and especially in the government are nuts. My power was out for close to 72 hours and the temperature was down to 10 degrees. Over 4,000,000 people in Texas lost power because evidently Texas has its power grid. I wouldn't recommend that at present. We have no idea when water will return. They are hoping it will be less than a week. There is no gas for your car. Either the pump has no electricity or there is no gas. Stores had to throw out a lot of their food due to no power. What little food has been delivered is gone in minutes. If you love to stand in long lines in the cold then you know where to travel to. Bottled water is extremely hard to come by. Bulk water for flushing toilet, forget about it. I could go on and on but did I mention that Texas has its own power grid.

Personally, I am fine. I have food, bottled water, electricity, and common sense. I can make through this and a lot more. We had almost 60 inches of rain from Hurricane Harvey and I'm still here. I know many are not so fortunate and pray that things will rapidly improve for them. Probably the worse thing that happened was my appointment for a Covid vaccination got cancelled. It is so incredibly difficult to get those appointments. But again, there is no vaccine available in most places in the world. So, I am fine.

My wife was to return from a three month visit in South Korea yesterday. They delayed her flight 24 hours and I am not sure how she is going to react to this temporary condition. She may not get in the car with me when I pick her up in an hour. I haven't had a shower in 4 days. Bring your nose a little closer to you screen and you can probably tell too. 

At least I got to wear my big coat for several days. Sometimes we go years without getting to wear the winter coat that all people in Houston own. At least we get them cheap, in the Spring sale. All said it was like a camping trip to Alaska only with less salmon, eagles, and bears. 

So, if you travel to Texas please bring a thermometer with you. If it gets into the 40's......RUN!

This sort of rambled. I blame it on eating protein bars and peanut butter as my main source of food for the past few days.
