Of Myth and Journey - a photo on Flickriver

"The Great Shan Long will guide our path to salvation," the old grandmaster said, slicing the air with a deft movement of his spear. "Everything's alright now," the young apprentice told her faithful dog.

The dragon looked onwards at the path, its presence silencing the caws of the crows and instilling a certain calm in the dying region. It did not speak nor growl, but the grandmaster knew that it did not agree to the situation of the land.
The new warlord had taken over, and with his reign, the land suffered. They say the leaves are red with blood, but he knew soon even the ground will be as brown and bare as the trees.

Everything was not alright.

"Foolish girl," the grandmaster said. "The Great Shan Long will guide us, but he will certainly not fight the war for us! Now, child, we must do our part and prepare for the battle. The journey is not over yet."

The grandmaster swung his spear again, a whiplash sound resounding in the air. The girl kept her smile, not startled. She had grown to find comfort in the sound of weapons. She looked at her blade, got up, sighed and began her training. "Everything will be alright," she said to herself.

AND BOOM! I'm back. Finally, after flunking last year's plans on joining, I finally got my entry for the second Dragon Lands contest, created by the awesome Nuju Metru! Go check it out!

This definitely took longer than I expected, with some unexpected roadblocks as well. Pretty excited with the final product though; always wanted to do an Asian dragon, but every try always failed back then.
