DownTownElkhorn - a photo on Flickriver

DownTownElkhorn

Elkhorn ghost town in the Deerlodge National Forest, Montana. USA. Elkhorn had 2500 residents in at its height of gold, silver, and lead mining. This photo was not staged, the skull was sitting on the rock when we walked up. To make it even creepier, a dog of one of the few "residents"* left in the town was sitting in the middle of the road, when the dog approached us the owner called out, "don't worry, he is a friendly dog. Just don't stick out your hand. He is half wolf." All this occurred as he was hacking away at a big hunk of red meat with a 10 inch cleaver on his front porch. We were just ho ping that the unidentifiable meat was not the last tourists to pass through.

*We're not entirely sure the resident was of the mortal realm.
