Double-crested Cormorant - a photo on Flickriver

            When I was told that TWO Great Blue Herons had shown up at our lake yesterday.I was amazed.  In the time I have been here, no one has ever reported seeing more than one at the same time. 
 
I searched all around the edge of the lake and finally saw a dull version of what might be a Great Blue Heron.  

Closer examination, though,  revealed what I saw to be of  smaller size, duller coloring, and of  shorter neck than a Great Blue Heron. and to have a  differently shaped bill.   What I had found was a Double-crested Cormorant, the first Double-crested Cormorant I ever saw.  I think this Cormorant is one goofy-looking bird.
