It sometimes rains in southern bavaria N°3

            Here comes another shot of the hefty thunderstorm this week. Here the storm was already very close to me.

Just wanted to say something about colours. I prefer using the profile »Adobe standard« in Lightroom for shots taken with the Nikon SLR, so initially my photo will show full dynamic range of the raw data and in many cases appears rather flat. 
Using the Nikon profiles instead like camera landscape or camera vivid will result in strong colours but already much steeper contrast.
Because of this I always use the flat version as a working base, so I can adjust gradation curves, shadows and highlights and, depending to the subject, saturation. 

This storm was a scenery  with very dark sky, so it should appear dark too to be viewed as natural. Needless to say that colours are coming very intense even with a value of 10 (which is not much with adobe standard profile) for saturation when contrast was enhanced especially in the highlights and  brighter tones. Enhancing saturation with a somehow normal value that would eliminate the flat appearing would result in clearly overblown colours as they are very intense already.

Another tricky value is white balance here - which value would seem appropriate? Playing around a lot at the calibrated monitor I found one that seemed to bring colours as I think I saw them in nature in my own, subjective view.

So finally, this scenery may appear not as flat as it came to my sensor but emotionally it fits better to the situation I had in my head, as dark and dramatic as it was.
