I made my first trip to the Huntington Library when in high school. I usually make at least one trip each year. It's a big place, with lots of ground to cover, and over the years, there have been lots of changes.

In past photos, I've discussed the legacy of Henry Huntington and the Los Angeles Railway (the ubiquitous Yellow Car trolley line which made him his fortune). I've showcased the collections inside the Library, and the artworks (including "Blue Boy" and "Pinkie") in the main Art Gallery, which was Huntington's home.

Early in internet history, I created one of my first MikeVideo Internet Movies consisting of footage shot on the grounds.

Each time I visit, something else surprises me. This time out, I paid particular attention to the hidden trees in the many "forests" around the gardens. Like this one, a Montezuma Cypress (Taxodium mucronatum) native to Mexico, which creates it's own canopy with the many branches of it's "family tree". So much so that you can miss the actual tree trunk walking along the path alongside where it sits.

As you can see, there is a bench, where one can sit and become entranced by it's magnificent beauty.

As a photographic "artist" I hope I have done this wonder of nature a service and with my own artistic editing of the photograph, can convey it's majesty to those viewing the image, whether on a large computer monitor or a small phone screen.
