This is my latest scale model car. It's a 1:18 scale model Mercury Turnpike Cruiser Convertible I got at an estate sale for $25.00. It was in it's original packaging and had never been opened. The gal who moved from our Mobile Park was a doll collector (and a bit of a hoarder, er, I mean pack rat) who had dozens of boxed Barbies and a lot of Disneyana collectibles. I purchased a lot of the Disney stuff, mainly Mickey Mouse. Of the model cars, this is the only one which caught my eye. Most of my collectible cars are 1:24 scale models from the Danbury Mint in the 90s. The Mercury is a "Road Signature" from Yat Ming.

I utilized the auto focus stack setting on my new Canon EOS R5 to take 24 consecutive images with different focus points at 55mm with the camera on a gorillapod sitting about a foot away from the model. Then I combined the images in Photoshop. Each RAW image is 43.6MB (8191 x 5463 pixels). Even with the auto settings, processing in Photoshop took about an hour, and slowed every program including the internet browser on my computer creating the completed image.

The model is sitting on the street in front of my house. I didn't do a great job of "scaling" the background to make the car look like it's full sized, but it's still a pretty good photo.

The title of my post is the title of a song recorded by bluesman K.C. Douglas and co written with Robert Geddins in 1948. (Actual title: Mercury Blues.) It was covered, among others, by country singer Alan Jackson in 1993.
