Wish you and your loved ones a very happy, prosperous and COVID free (probably the most important) New Year 2022. Thanks a lot for all your views, encouragements, comments and constructive criticisms.

Yes I know I am late as I was out for few weeks with almost no access to my network. So really sorry for the delay. But someone told me that I can still wish happy new year till end of January. Kind of rule for the Swiss motorway vignette; which can be purchased till end of January without any penalties :)

Anyway, this is an old image, but I thought in this tough time it is probably the most appropriate. I hope the new year brings some good resolution to the on going COVID crisis; which is now having very bad effect in Switzerland as well as most of the world.

Hence this image of the rising sun as a hope of changing time a new dawn of COVID free time as before when we could be free from all restrictions.

Now a bit regarding the image.

It was an interesting day. It was our second day stay in Sur. The day before was time for exploration. So no photography and the weather was also not that favorable. We went to the famous nearby sweet water canyon of Wadi Shab. But we were late to get there and it was super crowded. But as always that visit was more to find the location to come back later for photos and videos.

Based on the forecast the next day was supposed to be very good weather and what would be the better way to start the last day of the year with a view like this? The Wadi Shab opens around 8AM; so I took the opportunity to go out a bit early to capture the sunrise at the White Beach of Fins. It was around 40 minutes drive from our hotel. I always try to get to photo locations 30 minutes in advance. So was a very early start of the day for me. My wife agreed to join me even thought she was not really happy to get up so early. For my son it was still mid night thought. So he took it easy that morning. We started out journey towards the White Beach of Fins around 4:30 AM. The roads of Oman are very new and shiny so driving there was not a problem at all. That beach is a very popular camping spot. So we noticed many campers and tents there. But still I was the only one on the beach. As everyone else were yet to get out of their warm blankets. Yes, it does get fresh early morning at this time of the year. So you would need a layer or two to feel comfortable.

To be honest, I didn't expect the sunrise to be so beautiful Normally it stays flat during this period of time. But somehow a region of cloud was flowing over the horizon making it pretty interesting. The warmth of rising sun on my face was like a satisfaction of achievement. It was like all those efforts paid off. I took some pictures and a video as well and then spend another 30 minutes enjoying the ambiance around the beach with my wife. At the beginning before the sun came out she was watching the sunrise from the warm front seat of the comfortable Land Cruiser. But with the sun coming up she joined me to have a leisure walk on the beach.

After that we went straight to Wadi Shab and found that place also only for ourselves!

Even though it was not planned, this part of the video ended up being the cover of my video of Oman.
