Loto ... sen ... 蓮花 - a photo on Flickriver

            In Oriente, il fiore di loto significa purezza spirituale del corpo e dell'anima. Noto anche come loto sacro, loto indiano o rosa del Nilo, è una pianta acquatica che fiorisce in acqua nelle zone stagnanti, con le radici ben salde ed ancorate alla paludi, eppure, nonostante questo, riesce a mantenersi pulito, facendo sbocciare fiori dalla bellezza inenarrabile e con petali e foglie che tendono a mantenersi puliti perché idrofobi, cioè capaci di respingere le particelle esterne trattenendo molecole di acqua. La veloce crescita dello stelo del loto, che emerge improvvisamente dallo stagno, rappresenta il dono dell’elevazione spirituale e della capacità di saper affrontare, con coraggio e coscienza, le difficoltà terrene rappresentante dal fango dove la pianta vive. La particolare caratteristica dei petali del loto, che si chiudono la sera per riaprirsi la mattina, rappresenta la forza vitale capace di rigenerarsi.
