Magicicada cassinii female - a photo on Flickriver

Took a drive down to Princeton to see the Brood X emergence. As soon as we pulled off the highway, we could hear them through the closed car windows. There are 3 species in the brood; here at Turning Basin Park, the half dozen or so I found were all M. cassinii, which is supposed to be less common. It's the only one with a synchronized chorus; have uploaded audio of that at www.inaturalist.org/observations/82949884. Body length 25 mm.
