404, LHG 448T, Bristol VR, ECW Body H43-31F, 1979 (Ex-Ribble) (t.1993)

            Southend Transport's Bristol VRT with ECW High Bridge Bodywork. This is no.404, LHG 448T, dating from 1979. I always thought that it was a bit bizarre why Southend bought these VR's second hand. They always had a history of purchasing low-bridge stuff, so what's this doing in the fleet?!! It must have been restricted to all but a few routes. Nice looking bus though. I always thought that the high bridge ECW Body never really sat too happy, always looked a bit clumsy? Better on the Atlantean chassis than on the VR, I think.
