Dovedale - a photo on Flickriver

Dovedale

            Taken from the bridge over the River Dove at Ilam Rock, about half way between the stepping stones and Milldale. The tall spire is Pickering Tor with Ilam Rock (a bit of it at least) to the right.

Dovedale, in common with most of the dales, is becoming overgrown in what the National Trust would call "wilding". I guess it's good for nature, but a lot of the limestone features of this dale are now cloaked in a thick jungle and invisible. Removing livestock from the dales, which help to keep the vegetation under check, doesn't help
