            She was startled when she noticed the camera pointed at her and she darted from view right after the shutter clicked. 
I usually don't persist once people communicate their discomfort with having their picture taken.

A few minutes later she returned and apologized. She said she was uncomfortable having her picture taken. I reassured her that I did not have any sinister motives and just took her picture because she looks beautiful, which is the truth. 

That's also when I noticed the little boys clinging to her, their eyes wide and full of fear. I did my best to smile and reassure them that everyting would be fine...

Long ago, I used to see that same look in children's eyes when, as a Chicago Police Officer, I took one of their parents away in handcuffs. They did not understand any concept of "justice." All they knew was that uniformed men were taking their father away... 

Part of Millennium Park's magic is the diversity of the people you meet there. Everyone, representing every culture, religion and style of dress comes together in this one place. 

If we could somehow turn back the clock and only prim and proper Anglo-Saxons were allowed to enter, this would be the most barren and boring place on earth...
