Caprarola - Palazzo Farnese, il giardino

            Palazzo Farnese di Caprarola (VT) è uno dei più bei palazzi italiani di epoca manierista. Progettato dal Vignola, all'interno è, per la maggior parte, affrescato a grottesche e con temi mitologici, dai fratelli Zuccari, su suggerimenti di Annibal Caro.
E' progettato a pianta pentagonale. Per la sua particolare esposizione, alcuni appartamenti venivano abitati d'estate, altri in inverno. Il giardino all'italiana è magnifico e da esso si gode una vista sull'alto Lazio ed oltre, fino alle cime del Gran Sasso.
Il giardino è tardo-rinascimentale, realizzato attraverso un sistema di terrazzamenti alle spalle della villa, arroccati sul colle dal quale s'erge la costruzione e collegati dal Vignola con la residenza attraverso dei ponti. Sull'altro lato del giardino è edificata la Palazzina del Piacere, abitata in estate.
Vale la visita, pur essendo conosciuto  da poche persone.
