19th December 2010

            The moon hangs over the Hoad Monument close to sunset in mid December.

I had just popped upstairs to the bedroom when I saw this unfolding through the window.  Today's attempt at avian photography had produced no real results, but the camera  was downstairs with the 400mm f5.6 still attached so I was straight down to pick it up, back upstairs, window opened and 2 shots taken. 

I needed 2 frames as the 400 was slightly too long to get the whole scene in a single shot.  They went straight into photoshop to be merged to get the final result.  If I had a 300mm it would have been a lot easier ;-)

Really pleased with this, especially as it was a grab shot at the end of a fairly unproductive days photography!
