c. 1962 Dexter Postcard (Ektachrome by R. Donaldson) - M. V. Anscomb Ferry on the Kootenay Lake, British Columbia

            M. V. Anscomb - This government-operated ferry carries motorists across Kootenay Lake and is part of No. 3 Highway between Creston and Nelson, B.C. The crossing time is 40 minutes and gives travelers a chance to relax while enjoying the beautiful Kootenay Lake scenery.

The M.V. Anscomb was commissioned in 1946 and plied the waters of Kootenay Lake until the Osprey 2000 replaced her in 2000. The original wheelhouse, which was replaced in the 1960s, has become a representation of the ferry that so many people relied on for a job or a ride and the Balfour and District Business and Historic Association has completed its restoration.
