Prince Edward Island Postal History - 9 August 1938 - BEATONS MILLS, PEI (split ring / broken circle cancel / postmark) to East Wareham, Massachusetts, USA

            Beaton’s Mills was located in south-eastern Prince Edward Island. It was not far from the ferry terminal at Wood Islands that connects the province to Pictou County in Nova Scotia. The Post Office existed from 1 April 1875 to 15 April 1966 although it is seldom found on maps because the post office and community names were different. Beaton’s Mills post office was located in Melville.

- from "Lovell's Gazetteer of the Dominion of Canada (1908)" - BEATON'S MILLS, a post office in Queens County, P.E.I., near Melville Station, on the Murray Harbor branch of the P. E. Island RR., 31 miles east of Charlottetown. Besides the post office, there are 1 general store and 2 lumber and saw mills.

The Post Office permanently closed 15 April 1966 due to the change of Belle Creek R.R. No. 2 and 3.
