Laggan Locks, Caledonian Canal, Oct 2019

            It was cold and raw to stand here and the rain was closing in. Laggan Locks is part of the Caledonian Canal. The Caledonian Canal was finally completed in 1847, it stretches from Fort William in the West of Scotland to Inverness, sixty miles of Scottish scenery. It is a marvellous piece of engineering. Thomas Telford (1757-1834) was an engineering genius, born near Westerkirk in Dumfries – shire.
