Amtrak's Silver Meteor's last car, a sleeper, is departing southbound from the SCL-Amtrak station in Wildwood, Florida, 1974 (7 in a series)

            The last car, a sleeper, on Amtrak's 10 car Silver Meteor is heading southbound on the SCL mainline (former SAL) as it departs the SCL-Amtrak station in Wildwood, Florida, during 1974.  (7 in a series)  The train's final destination will be Miami at the end of the line.  Years ago when the SAL operated the train back in it's heyday, the trains lenght when it arrived at Wildwood from the North was typically 16 to 18 cars in length.  The SAL would break up the train into East and West Coast sections and the Saint Petersburg section was normally about 7 cars in lenght after the local turn-around combine car was added to the train and the remainder of the original train would continue on to Miami.  The Saint Petersburg or West coast section would normally consist of a P&B-combine, 3 - coaches, a diner & 2 - sleepers and sometimes carried a few more cars during the Winter season.  The Miami or East coast section usually carried a dormitory-baggage car, a diner, an observation-lounge, 4 - coaches & 3 to 5 sleepers.  One of the sleeper's at times was a combination sleeper-lounge car.
