Ruan, capital de la región de Normandía, en el norte de Francia, es una ciudad portuaria a orillas del río Sena. Fue una ciudad importante en la época romana y en la Edad Media, lo que se aprecia en sus iglesias góticas, como Saint-Maclou y Saint-Ouen, y su centro peatonal adoquinado con casas medievales de entramado de madera. Rouen, capital of the Normandy region in northern France, is a port city on the banks of the River Seine. It was an important city in Roman times and in the Middle Ages, which can be seen in its Gothic churches, such as Saint-Maclou and Saint-Ouen, and its cobbled pedestrian center with half-timbered medieval houses. The towers of Notre-Dame Cathedral, which appears in numerous paintings by the Impressionist painter Claude Monet, rise above the urban silhouette of this city.
