En la actualidad cuenta con dos arcos. Situado a los pies del castillo de San Servando y junto a la Puerta de Alcántara, se tiene constancia de su construcción en la época romana, en la fundación de Toletum. Fue muy dañado y reconstruido en el siglo x. Es cuando desaparece el tercer arco, reducido a un portillo con arco de herradura. Era uno de los puentes que daba entrada a la ciudad y era en el Medioevo entrada obligada para todo peregrino.
Bajo el reinado de Alfonso X sufrió graves desperfectos y fue reconstruido. A este último período pertenece el torreón occidental, luego modificado y decorado bajo el reinado de los Reyes Católicos, cuyas armas decoran sus muros. Falta en ellas el fruto de la granada, pues la Reconquista aún no había concluido.
El torreón oriental fue reemplazado por un arco triunfal barroco en 1721, dado su estado ruinoso.
Fue declarado monumento nacional en 1921.

It currently has two arches. Located at the foot of the castle of San Servando and next to the Puerta de Alcántara, there is evidence of its construction in Roman times, at the foundation of Toletum. It was badly damaged and rebuilt in the 10th century. It is when the third arch disappears, reduced to a porthole with a horseshoe arch. It was one of the bridges that gave access to the city and in the Middle Ages it was a mandatory entry for all pilgrims.
Under the reign of Alfonso X it suffered serious damage and was rebuilt. The western tower belongs to this last period, later modified and decorated under the reign of the Catholic Monarchs, whose arms decorate its walls. The fruit of the pomegranate is missing in them, since the Reconquest had not yet concluded.
The eastern keep was replaced by a baroque triumphal arch in 1721, given its dilapidated state.
It was declared a national monument in 1921.
