Cambio di E.646 per i treni storici in Sicilia (Foto del Mese n. 130 – Febbraio 2021)

Nei primi giorni di febbraio 2021 la Fondazione FS Italiane (www.fondazionefs.it) ha trasferito in Sicilia la locomotiva elettrica a due semicasse e carrelli E.646.028 per sostituire la E.646.196, presenza ormai abituale alla testa dei treni storici che negli ultimi anni hanno circolato, destinata ad altri servizi.
La nuova locomotiva è giunta a Villa San Giovanni in composizione ad un convoglio trainato dalla E.656.001 - anche questa in livrea originale ed in asset alla Fondazione - e due carrozze passeggeri a carrelli.
La E.646.028, costruita nel 1962 dalle officine Breda, condivide la medesima accattivante livrea in grigio nebbia e verde magnolia dell’unità 196 (costruzione Aerfer-Ocren, 1966) dalla quale, tuttavia, si differenzia a prima vista per la presenza della riproduzione delle originarie modanature che caratterizzavano le locomotive del Gruppo E.646 (insieme a quelle del Gruppo E.645) all’epoca della loro costruzione.
Nella foto gentilmente offertaci dall’amico e socio di Treno DOC, Giuseppe Sparacio, possiamo ammirare la “nuova” locomotiva sui binari del deposito locomotive di Palermo.

Exchange of E.646 for historic trains in Sicily (Photo of the Month n.130 - February 2021)
In the first days of February 2021, the FS Italiane Foundation (www.fondazionefs.it) transferred to Sicily the E.646.028 electric locomotive with two half-casings and bogies to replace the E.646.196, until now habitual presence at the head of the historic trains that in the last years have circulated on the island train lines and now destined for other services.
The “new” locomotive arrived at Villa San Giovanni in composition with a convoy pulled by the E.656.001 - also in the original livery and in assets at the Foundation - and two passenger carriages with bogies.
The E.646.028, built in 1962 by Breda, shares the same captivating “grigio nebbia and verde magnolia” (slate gray and magnolia green) livery of the unit 196 (built by Aerfer-Ocren in 1966) from which, however, it differs at first sight for the presence of the reproduction of the original moldings that characterized the locomotives of Group E.646 (together with those of Group E.645) at the time of their construction.
In the photo kindly offered to us by the friend and partner of Treno DOC, Giuseppe Sparacio, we can admire the "new" locomotive on the tracks of the Palermo locomotive depot.
