Today was an all-day rime ice event, since the sun didn’t come out to evaporate most or all of it. This is the second time that I’ve made it into the floodplain forest there in winter, and it was well worth the effort. The above-average temperatures and crunchy snow (staircase down to the floodplain) were essential components of the visit, along with the Vasque winter boots that I bought from REI a few years ago.
