The Ghost Orchid - Dendrophylax lindenii (also known as Polyradicion lindenii and Polyrrhiza lindenii)

Background for this set of photos:

I and my now-former student Alex made a trip to the Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park in south Florida this past Sunday (May 25). It's the dry season there, and most of the epiphytic orchids were not in flower, but this is the flowering season for the Ghost Orchid and Vanilla phaeantha. We saw a total of eight different species of epiphytic orchids, along with numerous bromeliad species, some of them very rare. I plan to post further photos later this week or next week.

We had a bit of a glitch in that the second set of camera batteries that I thought that I had charged actually were not charged, so I wound up taking some later photos with my cell phone camera. I and Alex also took photos with his camera (judiciously, since it was also running low).
