Nuclear flying bomb - a photo on Flickriver

            Plentiful pics of this around, but I couldn't resist another.

This special purpose AEC Mandator Mk V with half-cab is preserved in first class condition at the RAF Museum Hendon.  On board is a Blue Steel Air-to-Surface Thermonuclear Guided Weapon, manufactured by Hawker Siddeley between 1963 and 1970.  The missile was propelled by a Rolls-Royce motor plus Bristol Stentor rocket booster, and the airframe's span is 13', length 35'.  The exhibit can be found in the Bomber Command Hall, underneath the delta wing of the mighty Vulcan from which the Blue Steel was deployed.
