Cypripedium yatabeanum(?) - a photo on Flickriver

            Cypripedium yatabeanum, Yellow spotted Lady's Slipper Orchid.

Cypripedium yatabeanum is listed as one parent of the natural hybrid Cyp. xalaskanum. These were photographed in several places in and around Dutch Harbor/Unalaska. We found hundreds (likely thousands) of Cypripediums belonging to a hybrid swarm of plants that exhibit mixed amounts of characteristics of both parents (guttatum and yatabeanum). Only a couple, like this one, looked similar to the written description(s) of Cyp. yatabeanum.

This flower exhibits brown on the dorsal and pouch and brown spots on its petals, all characteristics of Cyp. yatabeanum. The overall colour is mostly yellow with some cream, and did not appear to be a "green" feature of a freshly-opened flower. The pouch is narrow, and vertically elongated. Some pictures and descriptions of Cyp. yatabeanum mention that the base of the pouch can be conical (which this flower isn't) but others don't show that...

Everything points towards this being Cyp. yatabeanum. If not, it is very close to it. 

Anyone with experience with this species... please comment???
