Vallco Fashion Park - May, 1983

            The western primary corridor of the Vallco Fashion Park shopping mall in Cupertino, California in May, 1983. Off-camera to the right was Bullock's, a large department store tenant that had closed the same year. It would later become Emporium until the mid-1990s, and finally Macy's from 1997 until April, 2015. In 1988, an extensive renovation of Vallco saw a lower level be added to the mall's western section to include fifty additional stores. The wooden planter benches on the right side of the photo were replaced with a large opening, overlooking the newly-added lower-level storefronts, surrounded by glass plates and gold railings. Large rectangular crevices were carved into the ceiling to add skylights to the roof.
