White floral minidress - a photo on Flickriver

            This is one of yesterday's thrift store finds (2 dresses, 2 tops, a skirt, and a nightgown for less than $25), I think it might be homemade, as there's no label. While I was browsing through tops, a woman asked me, "are you transitioning?" Turns out she was a young transwoman who does makeovers. Although I was a bit nervous about having been read so easily (takes one to know one, right?) while in guy mode, we had a really nice conversation. It was good for me to be reminded that there is somewhat of a dichotomy among the trans* community, especially here in the Bay Area, with many having grown up like her (originally identifying as a gay male, generally working the service industries), but many others in a situation more like my own (originally identifying as straight male, often working tech industry or more "masculine" occupations ... I suspect that this category is more represented on flickr than the other), and that these two groups sometimes have trouble relating to each other.

And interestingly, when I left my apartment earlier in the day, I saw a very cute-dressed cross-dresser walking down the other side of my street with white ribbons in her black hair.
