Class 47 Tyne Coal Terminal, South Shields. c 1987-88

            I personally have never seen a class 47 on an MGR working at this location. I'm fairly sure max loadings for a class 47 on MGR traffic in the NE was either 30 or 32 HAA wagons.

A pair of 37's a class 56 or 60 could handle 36. 

From personal experience a class 56 was ideal traction to haul MGR trains.

As a second man I recall driving a class 47 on an MGR working from Tyne Yard to York Yard North possibly 1985-86.

The occasions I worked into the coal terminal here it was either with a class 56 or class 60.
