THE OTHER CATHEDRAL CITY - a photo on Flickriver

            SR 4-6-0 850 Lord Nelson arrives back at Chester and passes No6 Signalbox on the 13th June 1981.
It is hauling the Cathedrals Pullman which had worked from Chester to Hereford and this was the return under increasingly heavy cloud. The departure from Hereford whilst bright had also had the sun dip at the last moment. With my new Olympus OM10 [without manual adapter] making it aperture priority it adjusted the speed to a too slow a setting.
It was not worth the risk with this happening again so back to the then tried and trusted Chinon with Vivitar lenses.
If you can have a favourite piece of wasteground this is probably it. Growing up living nearby this was on my walking route with the dog. I haven't been back for a very long time and imagine it is all fenced off or even built on now. I've been visiting this spot since around 1970.
