THE RAILTOUR YEARS

            40057 and 40135 get away from a murky Shrewsbury on Bank Holiday Monday 28.5.84
The railtour is the L.L.S./ T & N Railtours The Devonian trip from Preston to Paignton. This included an optional trip to Meldon and Heathfield
The train was split at Exeter with part being taken to Meldon to Newton Abbot by 31259 and 31180 working to Heathfield. 31259 then took the train to Paignton.
On the return 40057 failed between Exeter and Bristol. On arrival at BTM the decision was made to remove the 40's and were replaced by 47199 as far as Crewe. 40177 returned the tour from Crewe to Preston.

Shrewsbury was a regular location as it worked out nicely for our visits from Worcester to Chester to visit our family
