Il gruppo scultoreo di Ercole e Caco fu realizzato da Baccio Bandinelli, su commissione di Clemente VII e Alessandro dei Medici, e venne posto nel Luglio del 1534 davanti alla porta di Palazzo Vecchio di fianco alla statua del David, dal lato di San Pier Scheraggio, come già previsto nel progetto al quale era stato interessato Michelangelo nel 1508.

The sculptural group of Hercules and Cacus was realized by Baccio Bandinelli, on commission of Clement VII and Alessandro dei Medici, and was placed in July 1534 in front of the door of Palazzo Vecchio next to the statue of David, on the side of San Pier Scheraggio, as already foreseen in the project to which Michelangelo had been interested in 1508.
