Rockies By Rail : 1935 : TRIPLE-HEADER : Lake Louise [No.4 in a series]

            In 1935 family members took a rail trip from Vancouver to Alberta on the Canadian Pacific Railway's Trans-Continental train. The CPR's main line traverses the Rocky Mountains by way of Revelstoke, Glacier (Rogers Pass), Golden, Field (Kicking Horse Pass), Lake Louise and Banff. Fortunately they took some sepia photos en-route and at stations. I have scanned and PhotoShopped the prints to form this series.
The 3rd and this 4th image in the series are at Lake Louise station in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada.. The Lake and the Chateau Lake Louise, an up-market hotel on the lakeshore with its fabulous views, are major tourist destinations.
Motive power for this heavy train consists of the 3 steam engines (known as a "triple-header") to deal with steep gradients through the mountain passes.
Note the clerestory-topped coaches/cars and the 3 baggage cars right behind the engines.
