Vor den Türen des heutigen Bundesfinanzministeriums versammelten sich am 17. Juni 1953 mehrere tausend DDR-Bürger. 
Am Haus der Ministerien, in dem das Regime seit 1949 alle zentralen Entscheidungen traf, demonstrieren sie gegen die neuen Arbeitsbedingungen. So wie Hunderttausende in ganz Ostberlin.

Several thousand East German citizens gathered in front of the doors of what is now the Federal Ministry of Finance on June 17, 1953.
They demonstrated against the new working conditions at the House of Ministries, where the regime had made all its key decisions since 1949. Like hundreds of thousands throughout East Berlin, they did so.
