            In these trying times of covid-19, we in The Netherlands are dissuaded to leave the house for city 'doings', but it is allowed to go outside, for example to parks, as long as we don't broach the 1.5 metres distance from others. So on this beautifully bright Spring day, I went to one of my favorite haunts, the Gaasperplas to the south of Amsterdam. 
So much to see here in Spring. And there was enough in which Olymp and I could delight. Of course, in the 6 km or so walk around the lake, but also in the lovely wildflowers and more insects than I'd expected. Traveling in foreign parts these last two months I was sad to experience far fewer insects than, say, 20 years ago. Every year has seen a further diminution of our wonderful six-legged friends.
The insets show at top a Drone Fly on Blackthorn; then there are two insets with Sweat Bees, Lasioglossum sp.: Common Daisy is offering a 'bed' for two of them while a third looks on; and pretty Birdseye Speedwell is providing nourishment to another. See the pollen on her body! If you look carefully at her proboscis, she seems to be seeking nectar in the very heart of Persia!
In these dire times, the Weeping Willow seems an appropriate framing.
